In multiple cell systems an inhibitory effect of magnesium can be observed. It is commonly accepted, that these inhibitions are due to a magnesium-calcium antagonism. This talk will focus on qualitatively/quantitatively different actions of magnesium in different organ systems in terms of specific tissue properties.
