Water contributes significantly to the Mg supply. Looking at the Mg content of drinking water in correlation to various diseases, there is generally an increased risk at low Mg concentration. With a high Mg content of drinking water, the risk of cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular mortality is reduced. A high concentration of Mg in drinking water also has a protective effect on various cancer types. A low Mg content in drinking water should be compensated by increased intake.
